We are so excited to welcome you to Pilates for Dancers. Our class will be running on Thursdays at 5pm, but we have the option to add classes to the week if needed.
This class combines the teachings and principles of pilates to aid in strengthening and improving ballet technique. Pilates is a great tool to assist in injury prevention and rehabilitation, and the key elements of pilates can be easily translated and applied to the foundations of ballet. Our qualified instructors will provide you with the knowledge and understanding to use pilates based exercises to strengthen and improve your ballet technique.
This class is specifically designed for those dancers who are currently in a part-time or full-time ballet program.
You will work on the fine control of your deep muscles in order to support your ballet technique. This will include activation and dynamic control of deep abdominal/core muscles, true turnout control and intrinsic foot muscle strength as well as upper body work for port de bras and cambre lines.
You are encouraged to develop your own program specifically for your body and areas of your technique that need some love. To develop this program we will encourage you to analyse your choreography and look for areas that you may need to focus on to build your strength so that you can complete your performance work safely and injury free.
