Are your aching joints getting you down? Have you been diagnosed with hip or knee osteoarthritis?
Our GLA:D program may be the solution you are after.
What is GLA:D?
GLA:D stands for Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark. GLA:D is a researched and evidence based program that is targeted towards people who currently have knee or hip osteoarthritis. The GLA:D program has been shown to decrease Osteoarthritis symptoms by 32%, so with this program, you can expect less pain, less time off work, and the ability to get back to your favourite activities.
Run by our expert GLA:D physiotherapists, you will spend time in each class completing a range of cardiovascular and strengthening exercises. These are specifically targeted to make the muscles around your joints stronger, which will give your joints more support, decrease your symptoms, and help you do more of what you love day to day.
The program runs for 6 weeks with classes running twice a week. With the choice to extend if you love the program after your 6 weeks are over. We recommend attending both classes where possible to get the most out of the program. You can join our GLA:D program at any time and there is no need for a referral from your GP. If you have been liaising with your GP to manage your osteoarthritis we would love to work with both you and your GP to create the best management plan for you.
Did you know that Osteoarthritis occurs in 1 in 10 people? You are not alone. Come and take charge of your health alongside your peers.
Our aims for YOU:
Help you get back to doing the things you love
Prevent the need for joint replacements
Our GLA:Dprogram includes:
An initial assessment with one of our GLA:D trained physios
2 education sessions, so you can understand what you’re dealing with and take control of your condition
6 weeks of 2 sessions per week strength and exercise sessions with our trained physios
Why should you join the Program?
The GLA:D program is proven to be an effective first line treatment for osteoarthritis. Successfully completing the GLA:D program can delay and even in some cases, prevent the need for joint replacement surgery.
