Technology

Data creates certainty.

By integrating cutting-edge technology into our clinical practice, we can provide tailored treatment and exercises to remove the guesswork from your rehabilitation and training. Whether you are recovering from surgery or aiming to break a personal best, our technology helps us map your movement in real-time, uncover hidden imbalances, and track your progress.

Technology is crucial for rehabilitation, post-surgery, return-to-sport protocols, sprains, strains and managing neuromuscular fatigue and overload in stress-related injuries. It ensures that your return to full activity is based on objective markers rather than just time elapsed.

Technology at Performance Medicine

VALD Force Plates

Force plates are sophisticated sensors that measure the vertical ground reaction forces you produce during movement. It quantifies your ability to produce power and highlights imbalances that may be invisible to the naked eye.

Types of Assessment:

  • Countermovement Jumps (CMJ): To measure explosive power.
  • Balance & Stability Testing: To analyse postural control and weight-bearing distribution.
  • Isometric Tests: To measure max force and strength.
  • Asymmetry Analysis: Comparing left vs. right limb loading.

Dynamometry

Precision dynamometry allows us to objectively measure muscle strength. Dynamometry provides a clear, repeatable “strength score.” This tells us exactly how much strength you have regained and identifies the deficit between limbs, helping us refine your management and progression.

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)

BFR involves applying a specialised cuff to a limb to partially restrict blood flow while you perform low-intensity exercise. This creates a metabolic environment that stimulates muscle growth and strength gains without the need for heavy, joint-straining loads.

Indications for use:

  • Limb Occlusion Pressure (LOP): The cuff calibrates to your unique anatomy to ensure safe, individualised pressure for every session.
  • Ideal for early-stage rehabilitation when you are unable to lift heavy weights due to acute injury, fracture, or post-operative restrictions.
  • It allows you to maintain muscle mass and prevent atrophy without placing excessive stress on healing joints or tissues.
