Exercise Physiology is a branch of allied health that focuses on the delivery of evidence-based exercise interventions for the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of sports injuries, chronic medical conditions, and disabilities.
Performed through targeted movement and lifestyle modifications, Exercise Physiology can decrease pain, improve cardiovascular health, and restore metabolic balance, strength, and mobility. These interventions can also help in prevention, early intervention, and treatment of physical limitations, as well as assist with the ongoing management of chronic health conditions.
Our team utilise technology, including VALD force decks, dynamometry and blood flow restriction cuffs to optimise your training. By gaining objective measures during your training, you can see your objective progress and our team can plan and implement training that works for you.
Our accredited exercise physiologist has a wide range of experience from athletes to performing artists. Our team’s knowledge enables them to tailor exercise prescriptions specifically for you. With the knowledge that your body is unique and the way you use it each and everyday is exceptional.
In addition to athletes and performers, exercise physiologists work with the general population and are approved providers under WorkCover, and the Medicare Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) pathway.
Confusion between personal training and Exercise Physiology is understandable given that both design and deliver exercise programs to improve physical function. The primary distinction between the two is the fact that exercise physiologists are university-qualified professionals who specialise in clinical populations and managing complex health conditions.
At Performance Medicine our Exercise Physiologists work collaboratively with our Physiotherapy and Medical team to design and deliver rehabilitation programs and ensure you receive the best care.
